As White House struggles with impeachment strategy, Trump’s campaign takes the lead

(CNN)As the White House struggles to form a clear message and effective strategy to counter the fast-moving impeachment inquiry, President Donald Trump’s reelection effort is attempting to take the lead. While some of the campaign and RNC officials’ claims on the call Monday were misleading or inaccurate, it was the strongest, most concerted effort to defend Trump since the dam on impeachment broke late last month with a surge of Democratic support. For several days now, there has been grumbling inside the White House that there is no real strategy to counter Democrats, complaints that officials said were validated when not a single White House official appeared on television Sunday to defend the President. The White House has also not …

PSNI probes anti-Semitic remarks in pub PewDiePie cancels $50,000 anti-hate group donation John Cusack: Actor apologises for anti-Semitic tweet Jess, a Jewish student at the University of Cambridge, first shared the photo on Twitter last Friday, after it was sent to her by a friend. “When she sent it to me she was quite confused, and we both were quite alarmed by it. “Not necessarily because we thought the boy who took the photo was in any way an anti-Semite, but because we thought it was wrong to instantly conflate this man’s religious identity with a political conflict. “When I wrote that tweet I didn’t have any intention of trying to punish the boy. It’s more important to me that …

All The Outfits Meghan Markle Rewore On Her Royal Tour Of South Africa

Meghan Markle and While Meghan sometimes chose specific pieces made in South Africa, she also wore ethically sourced brands from elsewhere (as did little Archie in rewear outfits, sending the message that even among those who are photographed everywhere they go, not every event needs new clothing. It’s always easier ― and admittedly, more fun ― to figure out when the royal women are wearing something for the first time or the 15th.  During the South Africa trip, the first outfit of four that Meghan rewore was a bright blue dress for an event at the District Six Museum in Cape Town.  Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand last year, nearly to the month. At the time, the couple had …

Xiye Bastida, 17, grew up around drought and then heavy rainfall and flooding in her hometown of San Pedro Tultepec, a town outside of Mexico City. When she and her family moved to New York City four years ago, she learned about the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. The effects of climate change were inescapable, Bastida learned. And she’s since set out to do as much as she can to stop the damage.  Bastida had always been aware of the need to protect the environment. Her mother and father met in Ecuador in 1992 at a climate change conference. And Bastida is part of the indigenous Otomí tribe, which nurtures reciprocity with the land. When Bastida got to New York, …

READ: Real Madrid stumbles as Club Brugge holds on for draw Spurs a shadow Niko Kovac’s side began clicking through the gears in the second half and was soon purring against a Spurs side devoid of confidence and ideas. Lewandowski netted a brace to compliment Gnabry’s haul as last year’s beaten finalist was simply blown away. Thomas Gilbert, Jr. (Manhattan District Attorney) On Friday, a state judge in Manhattan ruled against the killer and sentenced him to the maximum sentence allowed: 30 years to life. He told the court, “The defendant expresses remorse.” Justice  Melissa Jackson was not convinced that he is insane. “You knew exactly what you were doing,” she said, according to the Times. “You were not insane at the time you killed your father. You were not insane then. You are not insane now.” Thomas Gilbert Sr. was …

Texas Ranger says ex-Dallas cop who killed Botham Jean was reasonable to feel threatened, but a jury won’t hear it

(CNN)A Texas Ranger who investigated the Botham Jean shooting said Wednesday that the ex-Dallas police officer who killed Jean in his own apartment was reasonable to think he was a burglar. Though prosecutors allege Guyger murdered the 26-year-old accountant, her defense team has said she simply walked into the wrong apartment and fatally shot Jean after mistaking him for a burglar. Jean’s apartment was on the floor above Guyger’s. Were Guyger’s fears and actions reasonable? Day three of Guyger’s murder trial began with Armstrong’s testimony regarding the investigation — which included details on the many similarities between the third and fourth floors at the South Side Flats complex — yet when it came to the reasonableness of Guyger’s actions, Kemp …

Huge blow for Boris Johnson as UK Supreme Court rules suspension of Parliament is unlawful

London (CNN)British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s controversial five-week suspension of Parliament was unlawful, the UK Supreme Court has ruled, in a landmark decision that will have far-reaching constitutional implications. Huge defeat for PM The decision is a huge defeat for the Prime Minister, and will likely set off a bitter argument over whether the justices have strayed too far into the UK’s political arena. But, speaking in New York where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Johnson was defiant, saying that while he has “the utmost respect for our judiciary … I don’t agree with the verdict.” Johnson said the government would respect the ruling, adding that the “most important thing” is that the UK leaves the …

More than 90 heads of state are descending on New York City. Here’s what to watch for

New York (CNN)It sounds like a digestive tract flareup. But that’s just how insiders pronounce the acronym for the annual United Nations General Assembly taking place this week: UNGA (“UNG-gah”). And when it ends, global leaders and a cast of thousands will indeed feel like taking some kind of medication. How concrete the results of the summit will actually be is unclear. The UN doesn’t have a global climate army to roam the planet stopping pollution, so it’s up to the 193 nations of the UN to take action. What the UN will actually do is what some feel the organization sadly does best: collecting the speeches and other environmental brainstorms in a report. The aim is to pressure world …
